The Japanese government chose 20 Persons of Cultural Merit including Jo Kondo.
An accolade ceremony for the Persons of Cultural Merit will take place at the Hotel Okura Tokyo on November 5.
*Person of Cultural Merit award was established to provide a lifetime pension to an individual who has rendered particularly distinguished service related to the advancement and development of culture.
